Two precise, made-to-measure interventions adapt the home to the family’s new needs without altering the way it originally worked.
The first turns the dining room into a bedroom; the second turns an open part of the living room into a new room. To keep the flat bright and spatially continuous, sliding transparent panels define the new uses without introducing opaque walls.
The key premise was that the whole intervention could be taken apart, returning the space to its original state without a trace, in the spirit of the Japanese tradition of light, flexible and changeable architecture.
